Vibrating Edges

The idea of creating a psychedelic pattern was something I was always interested in, so finally being able to make one was very exciting for me. I chose blue-green and red-orange because I thought they would be the best to demonstrate vibrating edges. For the background I chose an ombre to show more depth in the image and make it more visually appealing.

  1. I think the edges totally vibrate on this one. I also think the thumbprint pattern and the polka dots are really strong. I would tweak would be the weird little orange triangles that are in the background pattern. Also, I think you should change the value of the polka dot pattern. Maybe you could make it a bit lighter to really pop them out.

  2. The pattern is simple but the overall composition seems to vibrate very well. The slight change in hues are just enough. I noticed a gradient was placed in the background. This was a great idea, but I think adjusting it would make it more effective. I seem to lose the vibrating effect when I reach the yellow area. Overall great job!

  3. I like how you kept it simple by repeating one thing and just resizing it. When I look at this I see an optical illusion and I feel like maybe you could take some of the different size oval and circles out so that it could be more of a pattern I guess.

  4. The thin lines on this pattern make the edges really vibrate also the orange to red gradient in the background is another strength I think breaking the border to a non geometric shape would improve this pattern.

  6. You really hit this spot on in my opinion. Your pattern, although geometric, is very unique. It was a good idea to change the size of the pattern within your circles from your background. It really messes with your vision. The chroma of each pattern is slightly different but just enough to vibrate against each other. I'm trying to find something you can improve upon but it's just too hard! This is really nice. Maybe you could play with the composition and push it further, maybe you can think about if you want your piece to be a Circe or stay as a rectangle.
